EXCELLENCE IN EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION
WITH EQUAL ACCESS FOR ALL FAMILIES
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work at ECLC is designed to coordinate, assist, manage, and support the work of our 34 CCR&R agencies statewide as we address policies and practices associated with equity, diverse and inclusive efforts in facilitating sustainable movement in identifying and addressing root causes of disparities.
We believe our efforts will make the network a stronger component in supporting healthy growth and development for all children.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Equity is the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement of all
individuals. To stand for equity is to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of historically underserved and underrepresented individuals and groups. To pursue equity is to ensure that all individuals have the tools and access they need to accomplish their goals.
Diversity is the quality of difference among individuals, and the celebration of the differences that they represent. It includes visible differences such as age, gender, ethnicity and physical appearance, as well as unseen differences such as thinking styles, religion, nationality, sexual orientation and education.
Inclusion means creating a working culture where differences are valued and where everyone has the opportunity to develop skills and talents consistent with AIA values and business objectives. The aim is to make AIA an organization where members and employees feel involved, respected, and connected to each other and the institutional culture as a whole.
We are actively engaged in furthering and supporting multiple initiatives and goals such as the Equity in Architecture Commission, K-12 strategies, Women Leadership and Multicultural Summits that value EDI for people of all backgrounds.
